Lucky Brew

Hello again, Madd Cats! What on EARTH is this, three posts in three weeks? You'd almost think I'm back on my game or something.

Today's tutorial features not only the "Luck Potion" from the "Love Potions" collection over at Madd Style, but it also features my new Bdellium green bamboo smokey eye brushes!

Products used: IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes mascara, UD 24/7 in Perversion, NYX shadow base in white, MSC Optimus Primer, Witch's Brew, Steampunk, Acid Bath, and Luck Potion.

Bdellium green bamboo smokey eye brushes, numbers 777, 769, and 781

Prime, prep, and line your eye.

Pick up some Acid Bath on your 781 brush.

Apply to duct.

With your 769 angled contour brush, pick up some Witch's Brew. I love this colors, it's so many colors in one. Forest green, golden yellow, deep gray... it's MAGIC.

Apply to inner 2/3rd's of the lid.

Back to the 781 with your Steampunk.

Hit up that outer 1/3rd and cut your crease with the Steampunk.

Now, with your 777 brush, pick up some Luck Potion.

Dust that over your brow, and gently blend down into the rest of the eye.

Here you can see how it has an almost teal shift to it.

Lime green sparkles on the inner brow.

The entire look together.  Perfect night look when you want something that will really stand out in the crowd.

Stay Madd, Darlings!

Mabon: The colors sound like Dropkick Murphys!

Only not "Tessie," because that's Red Sox colors.

Little known fact: In addition to my other fun brain issues, I'm a synaesthete.  Colors have sounds for me.

This particular look sounds like DKM, with little surprise since it's a greens/brown/foresty look done on and for Mabon.

Gather your supplies: IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes mascara, UD Perversion pencil, NYX Shadow Base in White, MSC Optimus Primer, Afternoon Delight, Witch's Brew, and Steampunk.  Not pictured: Visine for foiling purposes.

Start out with a medium opacity with your base.  This is the NYX Shadow Base over Optimus Primer, of course.  Primer always comes first.

Then line lower water/tight lash line thickly with Perversion, or the blackest black you can find.

Pat on your Witch's Brew to the middle of your pupil. Don't go easy - you want that yellow/gold duochrome to really pop through.

Then add your Steampunk to the outer half of your lids and about 1/2 way in to the crease above the Witch's Brew.

Close up of where that crease should be.

Take a toddler break! If you don't, he will wreak havoc and bring about dooom.

Add your Afternoon Delight to the inner corner and as brow highlight.

Do a little blendy blendy.

Add your mascara....

Voila! A lovely darker green look to acknowledge the coming slide into the darkness.

May you ever be blessed, Madd Cats, and...
Stay Madd!

Signature look March sayonara!

As we bid March an anticipated farewell, I thought I'd bring you my "signature" look.  We all have one - our go to, our comfortable t-shirt in makeup form.

Products! Rimmel soft kohl liner in black, MUFE smokey lash mascara in black, MSC Jubilee, Blueberry Waffle, Pisces, Thunder Snow and Double Rainbow, UDPP, NYX shadow base in white, visine, and baby wipes.

Start out with a clean, naked face.  The baby wipes come in handy here, especially if you feel you need a little more than just a toner touch up.

Line your water line very lightly for a day look, a bit darker for evening.  Today I'm showcasing a day look, so I lined it light enough that it looks almost gray.

Next apply your UDPP and NYX base.  I like using a small concealer brush to apply my base.  This is where the baby wipes come in handy again - wipe your brush gently on a wipe to remove product so you can go about your other motions without getting product everywhere.  Do this with each brush you use.

Using an XL pencil brush, pack Pisces into the inner 1/3rd of your eye.

Next, do the middle 1/3rd of your eye with Blueberry Waffle.

Now pat the outer triangle with Jubilee.  Blend from the inside out with a large fluffy brush.

Blended!  See how some of the colors were a bit lost, though?

Take your Pisces and Jubilee, and a small pencil brush, and draw in the bare spots.

Much better!

Using the same big, fluffy brush, bring the Thunder Snow up to your brow as a highlight.

GENTLY blend it down.  Don't want to have to go back and fill in again.

Next, using your visine and Double Rainbow, make liquid liner.

Apply your liner and mascara!

Voila! A bright and airy day look that to me is as comfortable as PJ pants and fluffy socks.

Stay Madd, darlings!

It ain't easy being green! Quick and dirty style!

Hi there! After the tenth time watching Muppet Treasure Island, I was inspired by the many shades of Kermit the Frog.

Not pictured: UDPP, MSC Acid Bath, Oz, Lotus Bloom; NYX shadow base in white, generic black liner, MUFE smoky lash mascara.

Dab Acid Bath in your ducts, and bring Lotus Bloom out to your mid-pupils.

Bring the Oz in from inner corner to mid-pupil, and partially cut the crease.

Blendy blendy!

Add your liner and mascara and Voila! A gorgeous green for your peepers based on THE peeper himself!

Dragonfly Jubilee

Dragonflies are one of my favorite animals.  It is said that they represent the opening of one's eyes and focusing on living in the moment.  Not so different from when we do our makeup, no?  Especially if we're trying something new and intimidating.

Here in GreenSwamp we get them in all colors.  I've even seen a purple one or two.  My favorite will always be the ones who have a green abdomen and blue thorax.  The way the sun hits them when they're on a flower or darting into the water is breathtaking and relaxing.

Assemble your products.  MSC is having a color of the weeek on Jubilee is the color of the week this week.  The dragonflu look that I do has been one of my favorites for a LONG time, and Jubilee is in the front of my favorite drawer.  This is a perfect example of the versatility of the color in case you were doubting buying it. NYX Shadow base in white, UDPP, black glitter liner from WnW, Maybelline clear mascara, and WnW MegaPLUMP mascara.

Om nom nom, tasty brushes.

Apply the NYX Shadow base

Lay on the Lotus Bloom pretty thick.  Remember, pat not swipe.

Same with the Waffle down the middle of your eye.  Pat, don't swipe.

This is Jubilee. I was desperately trying to show you the amazing sparkle it has in it.

A better, blurrier picture that showcases all that glitz.

Now, using the patting method, bring the Jubilee across your crease and down to the outer V of your eye.

Before you blend, go ahead and tightline your eyes with the black pencil.  This was a cheap WnW pencil, and the only one I have EVER been able to get to work on my waterlines.

Now use the large floofy domed brush and blend.  Lotus out to Jubilee, and then Jubilee down from the crease

Add a swipe of Silver Haze to your orbital bone for highlight.

Using the clear mascara, make up some eyeliner with your Timewarp.  Use it to line the lash beds on top and bottom

I swear I'm not naked in those photos, my sweater is just huge.  I hope you enjoyed this look, and you try it yourself.  Stay Madd, darlings!
